All Smiles Sorrento sits on the beach edge instead, with Bass Strait running across the windows as the constant through the event. The cocktail format is built around movement and circulation, which is the format the ocean view rewards; a fixed sit-down banquet keeps half the guests staring at the back of the room when the actual headline is outside.

How we’d photograph it

Build the gallery around the ocean. The building itself is fine but unremarkable, and the only reason to book All Smiles Sorrento is the 180-degree view; galleries that give equal weight to interior and ocean coverage end up reading like any other Peninsula venue.

Sorrento Ocean Beach below the venue gives the strongest beach-portrait position on the Peninsula. Schedule a beach pull through the 45-minute pre-sundown window for couple portraits with the venue’s elevation visible behind on the headland.

The cocktail format means small-group candid coverage runs through the gallery. Plan less for full table-by-table sequences and more for circulation, lounge, and deck-side coverage that follows the actual rhythm of the event.
