Inside, the pub carries the bulk of the coverage. Dark timber and original fittings sit around a bar that continues to serve through the function, so shoot the couple with the pub operational instead of emptied for the photograph. Ambient character is the subject, not the architecture in isolation.

The Moorabool Valley flats outside the hotel run to farmland in every direction. Flat agricultural backgrounds photograph cleaner than folded-range country and work particularly well for wide environmental portraits; couple in the foreground, farm fence line and open paddock behind.
