Warrandyte sits at the eastern edge of metropolitan Melbourne, closer than the Yarra Valley proper but with similar river-valley terrain. Riverlea uses that proximity, and guests get vineyard-and-river atmosphere without the full-hour drive most Yarra Valley venues require. Larger weddings up to 350 are the property’s structural strength; mid-range counts gain the most from the multi-zone layout because they can use the chapel, the lawn, and the main room as a sequence instead of collapsing everything into one room.

How we’d photograph it

Most photos at Riverlea read as winery; a 10-minute walk to the Yarra-edge gives you a water frame that breaks the visual repetition through the album.

The Marquee Chapel sits framed by vineyard rows, and the angle from the south-west produces the strongest architectural image of the venue.

Riverlea makes wine on site, and the cellar door’s interior gives you a textural frame that’s distinct from the main reception room. A two-minute portrait stop there adds variety without adding travel.

The Green sits exposed without canopy shade, and 1pm to 3pm produces hot-shadow conditions. Time the family portraits before that window if outdoor.

The 1912 Restaurant runs through the wedding day with public covers, so kitchen access and parking flow differently from a venue-only property; align loading times with the operations team and not with the wedding coordinator alone.
