Rochford Wines is at 878-880 Maroondah Highway in Coldstream, central Yarra Valley, roughly one hour from Melbourne. The property hosts weddings across two spaces: Isabella’s Restaurant and Il Vigneto. Il Vigneto is a contemporary building with floor-to-ceiling windows and a large deck overlooking an on-site lake, seating 60 to 200 guests and holding up to 400 in cocktail format. The interiors carry French-style design accents through both venues.

The lake outside Il Vigneto is a genuine photographic asset. Shoot portrait frames using the deck and the lake together, with the vineyard rising beyond; the water layer adds compositional depth that pure vineyard venues don’t have. Morning and afternoon light both work because the lake’s eastern aspect means water reflection quality stays consistent through the day.

Isabella’s Restaurant reads as a more intimate heritage-Yarra aesthetic, while Il Vigneto’s floor-to-ceiling glazing reads contemporary. Shoot each space on its own aesthetic terms instead of forcing visual continuity between them; Rochford’s scale allows two distinct aesthetics to run simultaneously, and the gallery benefits from the contrast instead of forcing uniformity.

Central Yarra Valley golden hour runs the 60-to-75-minute window ahead of sundown. The vineyard rows and the lake both catch warm light through that window, so the outdoor portrait schedule compresses into a single tight band. Large capacity (up to 400 guests cocktail) means the reception load is substantial; schedule couple portraits earlier than the standard pre-sunset window to leave the late-afternoon slot clear for group coverage.
